How may I send mail to an inmate?

To send mail to an inmate at the Elbert County Jail, please address the envelope this way:

How may I visit an inmate?

The Detention Facility is located at 751 Ute Avenue in Kiowa. Visiting hours are 12:00 to 4:00 PM every Saturday. Inmates are allowed up to 30 minutes a day. Go to our Inmate Visits page for more information.


How can I get money to an inmate?

When an inmate is processed into the jail, all currency is taken from her/him and forwarded to her/him personal account for his use during incarceration.

Family and friends may deposit money into an inmate's account at the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office. The following forms of funds will be accepted:

  • checks from other law enforcement agencies
  • Cash
  • U.S. Postal Service money orders
  • cashier checks
  • certified funds, made payable to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office (E.C.S.O.)

No personal checks or credit cards will be accepted. No money or property may be exchanged between inmates.


May I call an inmate?
Incoming calls are not accepted.
